Rice Military Civic Club Board Meeting Minutes
April 5, 2009, 550 Westcott, Suite 440, Houston, Texas 77007
Attendance:
 | Treasurer’s Report: Report will be emailed on April 6, 2009 to Board by
Kathleen. |
 | Newsletter: There was discussion regarding spending approximately $1,200
per newsletter issue to have Houston Chronicle print, label and mail
newsletters. Board agreed this would expedite the newsletter. Wendy
discussed having an article about the parking issues for the new bars. |
 | Garage Sale. Peggy indicated she will obtain signs from “Sign-O-Rama”
that are 18x24 and will have printed on the signs “Today, 8-2 pm,
Neighborhood Garage Sale”. Cost for balloons and Houston Chronicle
advertisement were also discussed. Garage Sale event was also added to RMCC
Facebook Group. |
 | Social Discussion. Peggy asked for ideas for Social locations. Velvet
Lounge was mentioned. |
 | There was discussion about alternative meeting locations for general
meeting if Doris Miller closes this summer. Options mentioned were a local
church, United Way, or anywhere with microphone and seating. |
 | Quiet Zone Update: Continuing discussion on the Washington Avenue Quiet
Zone took place. Coordinators are trying to implement the quiet zone by
December 2009. |
 | Bars Along Washington. Phyllis met with the City in a “pop-off” meeting,
DUI enforcement was discussed as well as parking issues. |
 | General Meeting: The next general meeting will be on April 7, 2009 at
the Doris Miller Center at 7:00 pm. Speaker will be Lisa Foronda. |
 | Upcoming Events: The board discussed Book Club date and Wine Tasting for
May 20th. |
 | The next Board Meeting will be at 6:00 pm in July, 2009 on a date and
location to be determined. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm. |
