The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President, Phyllis Thomason, who served as chair of the meeting. On motion made, seconded and passed, the reading of the minutes of the last meeting was waived. The minutes of that meeting will be on the club’s web site. Treasurer: Michelle Wolpert reported that YTD Net Income was approx. $500 through March, and that membership was ~150 households versus ~160 a year-ago. Crime: Officer Carol Trautwein (carol.trautwein@cityofhouston.net) reported on crime statistics in the neighborhood. Crime was generally down versus prior periods year-over-year. Group Reports: next book club on 4/17, next wine club on 5/6, next social on 4/24. Newsletter: Wendy Wilkinson asked for articles for the June newsletter. Guest Speaker: Christof Spieler, Board member of Citizens Transportation Coalition, gave a talk on “The Railroad and Neighborhoods – How We Co-exist”, and discussed freight issues, commuter lines, and light rail through Rice Military. Other: Phyllis Thomason, President, made a plug for the garage sale, WOW on 4/26, and the Westcott tree planting . Vote on Proposed Amendments to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws: 20 in favor of the proposed amendments of the articles of incorporation and bylaws of the Rice Military Civic Club as described in the January, 2008 meeting to extend the southern boundary of RMCC to Buffalo Bayou, 0 votes against, The next General Meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Doris Miller Center.
