Amaris Wendelburg, President

Amaris has been a resident of Rice Military for almost five years. She lives
next door to the Beer Can House and hosted the Beer Can Block Party in July. Her
favorite aspect of the civic club is the opportunity to meet fun neighbors. She
is involved with the Book Club and attends every social she can. With regards to
the civic club, Amaris states “My goal is to get the people of Rice Military to
join, attend, have fun, and make some really great friendships.”
Wendy Wilkinson, Vice President,

Wendy has been a resident of Rice Military for five years and has been the
editor of the newsletter for the past four years. She participates in many of
the socials and book clubs as well as many of the neighborhood and city-wide
meetings.

Marilyn Myers, Treasurer
Marilyn has been a resident of Rice Military for two years, arriving about a
week after Hurricane Ike blew through. She has been a paid member for two years
and has been very impressed with what the group accomplishes. She was on the
National Night Out Committee this year and attended a book club event at the
Museum of Fine Arts.

Paul Hesson, Secretary

Paul has lived in Rice Military for two years and been an active member of the
Civic Club during that period. He enjoys the Wine Club, social events, and
helping with any "hands on" projects, in particular landscaping at the
Roundabout. He resides with his wife Karen and daughter Althea who is a freshman
at Lamar.

Phyllis Thomason, Outreach Chairperson

Phyllis has lived in the Rice Military neighborhood for four and a half years.
She has served on the Outreach / Social Committee working on the dedication of
Nellie Keyes Park and the celebration of National Night Out, and has organized
the RMCC monthly socials this past fall. Phyllis became a Houstonian by choice
40 years ago, moving here from central Texas. Her life long career has been in
luxury retailing where she held the positions of Public Relations Director,
Merchandise Manager /Assistant Store Manager, and Designer Salon Manager. Since
her retirement, she has become very involved with The Guild at HBU and is a
member of the advisory committee of Dress for Success Houston.
"Moving in from the suburbs to Rice Military has been the greatest thing ever!
We love Memorial Park, walking the trails along Buffalo Bayou, and attending the
movies and live productions downtown."
