WINE CLUB The next Rice Military wine tasting party will be hosted by
Jane Harper at 652 Lester Street, aka as "Tin Alley". Parking is available along
Lester and Floyd streets. Please contact Jane directly at
jaharp1@gmail.com
or 281-634-4342 for the gate code into "Tin Alley". The date and time is August
18 at 6:30 pm. In honor of Spain and their recent win in the World Cup, the
food / wine theme will be Spain. According to Jane, some good Spanish wines
include "Spanish Whites - Albarino and Viura, and Reds - Tempranillo and
Garnacha. These are reasonably priced and good choices. Adam at Specs Midtown is
the Spanish wine expert and can give you some ideas. Many of these have
interesting names, but similar to familiar types you may already like."
World Market is also a place to consider. Please also bring some snacks to share, and if they're Spanish-themed, all the better.

meet at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston on Thursday, August 12, for a 6:30 pm
guided tour. This tour will include paintings and artwork related to "My
Antonia" and will last about an hour. Please bring your copy of the novel on the
tour, and meet in the Beck Building.
